Preparing the Sunday Bulletin

NOTE: If FCC ever chooses to have a Sunday Worship Bulletin again, this is the procedure that was in practice prior to July 2024.

The Sunday Worship Bulletin is accessible to congregants at bulletin.fortworthucc.org which is maintained as a Google site called Sunday Bulletin Doc. The Current Printed Sunday Bulletin is a Google doc in the Worship>Bulletin Google folder. The bulletin is automatically published to an HTML version and a PDF version as defined behind the pull down menu File>Share>Publish to web in the Google doc.

Maintaining the Bulletin Layout

The layout of the bulletin is established by placing all of the text in tables. In practice, if text is to appear without a border in the published bulletin then the border color of the table should be purple. To facilitate editing text within the various tables, the script behind the FCC_Utilities pulldown (see Figure 1) menu lets the user reveal or hide border table borders.

Preparing Upcoming Bulletins

There are usually a number of individuals who contribute to an upcoming Sunday bulletin and as changes to the Current Printed Sunday Bulletin are published immediately and automatically, it is essential that these editors operate on a separate upcoming bulletin document that can subsequently be copied into the production document. The upcoming bulletin documents should be stored in a folder with shared edit access to contributing individuals.

To prepare a document for an upcoming Sunday service:

Open the Current Printed Sunday Bulletin
Pulldown menu File>Make a copy and name it in the format "Bulletin YY-MM-DD"
Move the copy to the subfolder Upcoming Bulletins
Confirm that contributing individuals have editor access to the folder Upcoming Bulletins and as needed notify the contributing individuals that the document is available for them to edit

Publishing the Production Sunday Bulletin

Once all of the contributing editors have made their changes to an upcoming bulletin document, you are ready to update the production document to be published.

Open the upcoming bulletin Google doc (e.g. "Bulletin 25-02-23")
Press Ctrl-A followed by Ctrl-C to copy all of the contents to the clipboard
Close the upcoming bulleting
Open the Current Printed Sunday Bulletin
Press Ctrl-A followed by Ctrl-V to replace all of the text with the contents of the clipboard
Examine the document and edit as needed
Close the Current Printed Sunday Bulletin (This step automatically publishes the production HTML and a PDF versions for congregants to view)
