Venmo Donations

Donors send their donations to @FCCUCCFW or by scanning the QR Code below. FCC's Venmo account is accessed using the Venmo mobile app on the church's mobile phone.

A fully functional web interface for Venmo charity accounts is still pending. Office@fortworthucc.org receives notification emails when a donation is received and as monthly statements become available a few days after a month ends. The monthly statements reflect transactions which can be downloaded in CSV format (see sample) for months ended from a minimally functional web site by signing in with the church's phone number as the username.

Absent a fully functional website and the donor paid fees incurred, this method of sending money to FCC is not widely shared and is not often used. At this writing, the recommended method of recording Venmo receipts is to enter them individually into QuickBooks.

Posting Venmo Receipts to QuickBooks

The amount in the text of the notification email sent to office@fortworthucc.org reflects the "gross amount" which includes the fees paid by the donor. The QuickBooks sales receipt has to reflect the "net amount" actually received by FCC.

Click the link to "See donation" in the email to jump to the Venmo payment details page.
Press <Ctrl-P> and save the payment details to a PDF and view the downloaded PDF.
If the donation note provided by the donor is insufficient to determine what the payment is for you should contact the donor for clarification. This will be key in determining which "Product/Service" to specify on the Sales Receipt detail line.
Navigate to Transactions>Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks and view the register for account "10752 Venmo".
Edit the most recent Venmo receipt and click on "More>Copy" to create a copy of the receipt.
Using the information from the saved PDF:

Change the Donor and receipt date
For the Reference no, enter the Venmo Transaction ID
Specify "Venmo" as the payment method and "10752" as the Deposit To account
Change the Product/Service, description and use the net receipt as the amount. If uncertain about the Product/Service, specify "Ask Accountant" and prefix the description with a "?".
Attach the PDF
Click "Save and send" to send the donor a copy of the Sales Receipt or "Save and close" to skip sending the Sales Receipt.

Transferring Funds from Venmo to Simmons Bank

Funds at Venmo can only be transferred using the Venmo app on the church's mobile phone. A transfer transaction must also be created in QuickBooks.

1. Transfer the Venmo Funds

Launch the Venmo app on the church's mobile phone.
Tap the "Transfer" link.
Transfer the entire balance.
Select the option to transfer funds without a fee.
Click the "Transfer" link.

2. Record the Transfer in QuickBooks

- 1. Navigate to the Transactions>Recurring transactions page in QuickBooks.
  2. Locate the recurring transaction "Transfer Venmo" and click "Use".
  3. Change the date and the amount of the transfer.
  4. Attach the PDF of the confirmation page.
  5. Click "Save and Close".
